The numerical simulation of fluids (CFD Computational Fluid Dynamics) is a methodical focus in this area of industry optimisation. This is a technique which has increasingly complemented the traditional mainstays of fluid mechanics in recent years. The use of these techniques to solve engineering problems has, along with the further development of simulation techniques and optimising algorithms, come increasingly to the fore.

The most widely used solution methods in fluid mechanics (which we run on high performance computers) are finite difference methods (FDM), finite volume methods (FVM) and the finite element method (FEM).
